WOW! WOW! WOW! Morning Star Lutheran Church you have done it again! You have spent a beautiful morning in our Unified Worship service and then spent several hours of your time gathering for work to go Beyond Our Walls in so many ways! Of course, I am referring to our God’s Work, Our Hands Servicefest.
Yesterday, many of you spent time following worship cleaning up Rice Road, polishing our handbells, making cookies and placemats for Kairos Ministries, putting together gift bags for the staff of Mint Hill Middle School, making cookies and cards for our local Police and Fire Departments, making sandwiches for Urban Ministries, and gathered to launch our faith formation leaders into a new year!
These are acts of service are acts of love for our neighbors and the world.
One of my favorite quotes about faith is “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary, use words” (author unknown). This is what God’s Work Our Hands Servicefest is all about – preaching the Gospel with our actions. Showing the world that God is love through our acts of service. Morning Star family, you have proven time and time again that that love is central to who we are. Love is central to how we act toward one another. Love is central to how we show the world who God is.
It is an absolute joy to serve with you in this community and in the world. I am forever thankful that this is a family of faith that takes the job of being God’s Hands in the world seriously, and not just one day out of the year.
Keep up the good work!
Keep sharing God’s love!
Keep being God’s hands!
